Don't know how to make knotted bracelets? Grab our Classic Friendship Bracelet Kit to get started. Then come back here to try these, as this pattern uses all the skills learnt from our kit.
What you'll need:
- 2 colours of Ricorumi Cotton Yarn
- Pair of scissors
- Safety pin or clipboard to hold your bracelet secure
You’ll also need to know how to make left knots and right knots, the same knots we use to make chevron bracelets.
Get ready:
Cut 2 180cm lengths of Colour A (Fuchsia).
Cut 2 180cm lengths of Colour B (Rose).
Gather the ends together, fold in half and tie a simple over-hand knot. You now have 8 strands total. Secure with a safety pin to the sofa/your jeans or use a clipboard and get ready to knot!
Set up your threads in this order: A B A B B A B A
STEP 1:
Starting at the left side, use the leftmost strand of Colour A to tie 3 left knots. Use the rightmost strand of Colour A to make 4 right knots. This is just like the beginning of a chevron bracelet.
Knot one more chevron row in the same way using Colour B.
STEP 2:
Use the leftmost strand of Colour B to make a right knot.
Use the rightmost strand of Colour B to make a left knot.
Colour B (rose) will now be on the outer edges of the bracelet.
STEP 3:
Use the leftmost strand of Colour A (fuchsia) to make 2 left knots. Use the rightmost strand of Colour A to make 3 right knots.
STEP 4:
Make a right knot with the leftmost strand of Colour A to move it to the outside of the strands.
Make a left knot with the rightmost strand of Colour A.
STEP 5:
Use the leftmost strand of Colour B to make 2 left knots. Use the rightmost strand of Colour B to make 3 right knots to fill in the inside of the heart.
STEP 6:
Use the leftmost strand of Colour A to make 3 left knots. Use the rightmost strand of Colour A to make 4 right knots towards the centre of the strands.
This completes the first heart! Repeat steps 2-6 until your bracelet is long enough.
Finish off with one last row of chevron in Colour A.
Separate the strands into two equal sections and make 2 braids that are around 7-8cm long.
You're done! Gift to your best gal pal or loved one. And get started on the next one, these bracelets are addiction to make and contagious to gift! 💌😍✂️
