The Cornershop: a fuzzy shop of stitched goodness

I'm not the only one who's been raving about this stitched project in East London! Lucy Sparrow's Cornershop has even been on the BBC and has been attracting attention from media outlets all over the world. I had the chance to pop over on Sunday to chat with her and stitch my own can of Heinz soup!

“An art show truly worth making a fuzz about, Lucy Sparrow’s Cornershop is the fluffiest, furriest shopping experience imaginable. She’s filled a former derelict store in Bethnal Green with over 4,000 handmade felt versions of familiar grocery items – from fish fingers and cans of SPAM to sanitary towels and newspapers, rocket ice lollies and oven chips to ciggies, veggies, and what is most certainly the softest loo roll ever manufactured.”

It really is all about the details in this place. The shop sign is stitched, the till, the price gun... Lucy really does have an eye for typography too. While we were sewing our soup cans at the workshop, she whipped up the Heinz label with fabric paint in about 2 seconds while we all Google Image searched what a can of soup even looks like.
