Flipping through the latest issue of Mollie Makes, I came across an article about the Just A Card campaign and I absolutely love it! The magazine launched the campaign last year in November in an effort to help support independent makers and it is something that totally resonates with me.
The idea is a very simple one: when visiting small shops that stock independent designer's work or when visiting handmade marketplaces, always make a small purchase, even if it's just a card, a small piece of jewellery or a print of an artist's work.
Then, take a snap of it, hashtag it with #justacard and share it on your social media channels.
These small purchases can make a huge different for these shops, the artists and the creative community in general. In London especially, it costs a small fortune to keep a design-conscious and artsy shop going, not to mention the costs involved for artists selling at craft fairs and markets.
