What are Summer Sewcials?
These are free, mini workshops that are live on Facebook every Tuesday morning at 10am of the summer holidays. You'll have the chance to purchase kits and materials in advance, or use materials from your own stash. See what you'll need each week below so you can prepare.
Week 1: Friendship Bracelets for World Friendship Day 👯♀️
Learn how to make classic 90's friendship bracelets in this 1-hour workshop! This is a fun, totally addictive summer craft that is great for kids ages 8+ and will have both you and your child knotting all summer long.
Grab your Classic Friendship Bracelet Kit & a pair of scissors and get stuck in!
Week 2: Strawberry Keyrings 🍓
Here's a simple beginner's sewing project to make with kids this summer. These strawberry keyrings are an easy activity with really simple materials.
What you'll need:
- Red & green felt
- White, red, green embroidery floss
- Toy stuffing
- Sewing needle
- Scissors
Week 3: Mini Doughnuts 🍩
These fun mini felt doughnuts are a great project for kids learning to sew. Using only two stitches, learn how to sew a felt doughnut and use it for role-play later! Play shop, plan a teddy bear picnic or use it as a pin cushion for your sewing pins...

Week 4: Pom Pom Headbands 🌸
Yessss! Festival-ready headgear! In this short workshop you'll learn how to make a pom pom on a Loome tool and how to attach them to a fabric-covered headband to make a fun headpiece. Great for parties and festivals... but what about for a Friday Kahlo costume?

Week 5: Moon Purses 🌙
Create your own mini moon purses with this quick beginner's sewing project. These little purses are just the right size for a special collection of shells, acorns, gems... or whatever other treasures you happen to find on your adventures.

- Felt in any colour
- Chunky yarn or thin rope for strap
- Sewing needle
- Embroidery floss
- Scissors
Week 6: Bead & Tassel Necklaces 🌈
This is a fun and quick project to make. Tassels are so easy to make! Create your own adjustable tassel necklace in this mini workshop.
